Say what you want about George W. Bush; he’s not the most intelligent, most ethical, most well spoken or even most likable President in U.S. history, but he governs with a style that lives up to his nickname as the “the Decider.”

Recently, Bush has made it quite clear that he calls the shots. Whether it’s Iraq, Scooter Libby or the dismissal of nine U.S. attorneys earlier this year, what Bush says goes.

Bush may not be good at much, but he is a master when it comes to taking the thoughtful opinions of his colleagues and brushing them aside; just look at what he did with the Baker-Hamilton Report.

On Monday, Bush invoked executive privilege to deny Congress testimony from former aides Sara Taylor and Harriet Miers regarding the U.S. attorneys’ scandal. Today, he shrugged off mounting criticisms from within his own party on Iraq, threatening to veto any bill that calls for a withdrawal time-table.

In just two days time, Bush has twice asserted himself as the alpha-dog of the U.S. federal government.

That’s all fine and dandy, but when Bush asks the American people to be patient with his Iraq War strategy, to wait it out and see how the surge goes; I feel like I have to say something.

Mr. Bush, while your approval rating and your reputation have dropped dramatically due to the Iraq debacle, and a new Gallup Poll claims that seven out of ten Americans believe that going to war was the wrong decision, your sacrifices pale in comparison to that of the American public during your time in office.

We’ve lost friends, family members and loved ones. The men and women in our Armed Services have undergone sacrifices of which you could never even conceive.

I imagine not many of your peers during your days with the National Guard ever lost a limb to an Improvised Explosive Device.

Yet, you defiantly beat the drums of war, even as your own party members are turning the tide against you.

Nine of your fellow republicans have called for a different direction.

Now it’s not just the godless, pinko, tree-hugging, liberal nut-jobs who are becoming impatient with you.
