I See You Honest Obama???

Senator Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State? “Its 3 a.m., I don’t believe the president is ready to take on serious crisis?” Check. Senator Joe Biden, Vice President? “I don’t think Senator Obama is experienced enough to be president? Check. Is President Elect Obama changing up the Executive Cabinet? The Abe Lincoln similarities are starting to get interesting. President Clinton and Reagan worked across the aisle, but I’m starting to see Obama strolling down the aisle with former political advisories and individuals from the Republican Party.
This is a smart move on the President Elects part, keeping the Clinton camp inside, because the experience and toughness these folks have as well as the ability to attack people so that “Teflon Obama” doesn’t have to. I’m just looking at his selection of Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel aka “Rahmbo” as an example of that. Insiders are also saying that he’ll keep Robert Gates on as Defense Secretary. This is good because it gives him leverage to maintain the Iraq War strategy and not make any serious transition or leadership changes. Throw in Senator Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Veterans Affairs and General Colin Powell as Secretary of Education and I’m on board.
I do worry a little though, I hope he maintains this idea of keeping a bi-partisan administrative tone, and govern from the center. This makes me still recognize how great a politician President Elect Obama truly is. He campaigned on change in Washington, D.C., but he’s bringing in several Clinton people into his cabinet. He also campaigned to end the Iraq War by next year, but he might keep on Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. He was also groups like Moveon.org’s political darling, but he is most likely going to be borrowing from President Clinton’s moderate Democrat playbook to stay in office until 2016.
Yes We Can be a true politician. I was convinced he was one ever since he knocked his political mentor out of the state senate race in Illinois. Also, he was a law student and a lawyer, and they are a conniving bunch, so, I truly think this is quite funny. The extreme left is going to be much more disappointed in the next four years than the extreme right ever will with President Elect Obama. Which I am glad about and the American people will be better because of this.
