Imus Is At It Again???
Jun 23rd, 2008 by Jason Goodson
Shock Jock Don Imus just returned to the radio this year after controversial statements he made about the Rutgers Women’s Basketball team last year caused him to get fired. Now he is back in the news again for making comments about suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones. The cornerback recently informed the media that he wanted to permanently eliminate his nickname “Pacman” from being used in reference to him.
During the dialog with another sports announcer discusing the trouble the cornerback has had in the past, Imus asked “what color is he”? The announcer, Warner Wolf, responded “African-American”. Imus then responded, “There you go. Now we know”. Imus issued a statement later on today through his spokesmen that he “meant that he was being picked on because he’s black”.
I don’t know Imus, you just get back on the air waves and already start speaking foolish again. He really needs to clean this one up. I’m sure he’ll get suspended or fined this time though. I personally don’t think he should have been fired for his comments last year. As a result of this I’m sure ”the spokesmen” for all black people Reverend Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson will issue some statement or protest.
My feeling on Don Imus and his radio situation is some things should not be said because they are just idiotic and offend people, however, we still live in America and he should be allowed to freely express himself. As long as he isn’t threatening anyone or insighting a riot I don’t care what he says on the radio, I don’t listen to him anyway. Here’s a sample of it, before they take it down.
