Jindal Inauguration marks history and new beginning
Jan 14th, 2008 by C. Todd Williamson, III
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal held his inauguration today at 11:15 am. As the state’s 55th governor, Jindal has the tougher obstacles facing him than any of his predecessors. The state’s previous governor, Kathleen Blanco decided not to run after she was heavily criticized after the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
Now Jindal has the opportunity to move his state in the right direction. Club Relaford covered Jindal twice. The first time took place as his campaign gaining stride in April, the second shortly after he claimed victory in November. To witness Jindal inaugurated as the first Indian-American governor in U.S. history is a symbol of change taking place not only in America, but on the geopolitical stage as a whole.
